?Do you have plans this weekend? If not, we suggest checking out the Eat Real Festival in Oakland!

Taking over historic Jack London Square from Sept. 22-24, 2017, this popular annual event is essentially a state fair, food festival and block party all wrapped up into one. Here, Bay Area residents have the unique opportunity to learn more about where their food comes from and meet the chefs, farmers and producers who have a hand in making it.

While at the festival, attendees can snack on a variety of healthy street-food, purchase goods from food craft vendors and pick up new recipes. With over 70 food menus to peruse, all offering sustainably sourced items, this is a great place to sample some new local cuisine. For those 21 and older, there will also be over 40 craft beers, wines and cocktails to sample.

In addition to uniting the community and supporting local food systems, Eat Real Festival also benefits the Food Craft Institute, a non-profit educational institute dedicated to helping local food makers create and maintain successful and sustainable businesses.

Admission to the Eat Real Festival is completely free, and all food items are affordably priced at $10 or lower. Both cash and credit cards will be accepted this year. For event hours and transportation information, please visit the festival’s website.
