The new 2015 Ford F-150 is on sale in the San Francisco area now at Serramonte Ford! If you were looking for even more reason to purchase the truck, here it is: Popular Science recently named F-150 a Grand Award Winner on its 2014 "Best of What's New" list! No other vehicle model can claim the same.

As America's top-selling truck for 32 years, consumers and critics were stunned when it was revealed that F-150 had changed a primary part of its formula, taking on a body composed of high-strength aluminum rather than conventional steel. Needless to say, people were worried, but Popular Science says there's no need for concern. The publication explained, "The alloy performs just as well as steel, and in some cases better, and it reduces the truck's weight by as much as 700 pounds. (Typically, engineers would cheer the loss of only a few ounces.)"

Popular Science went on to say that the truck's weight loss means it can tow, haul and go further with up to 20 percent greater mpg, all of which we've mentioned in some of our previous blog posts. In large part, Popular Science selected the 2015 F-150 as a Grand Award Winner because it's the first and only mass-produced truck to make the switch to aluminum, a bold and innovative move that's improved the truck's capability and appeal to shoppers.
