Never before available in America, the hottest hatchback in the Ford Focus lineup is finally going global, and driving enthusiasts are going gaga over the news. Sources say the Focus RS is coming to the states in the 2016 or 2017 model year, and we can't wait for it to arrive at Serramonte Ford!
When RS plants its tires on the red, white and blue in the next year or two, it'll quickly become one of the most desirable hatchbacks available, especially with its all-new engine and high-traction all-wheel-drive system. The engine is the same one used in the next-gen Mustang, a 2.3-liter Ecoboost powerplant with 310 horsepower, and this output is expected to be even higher (about 330 hp) in the 2016 Focus RS. The car's new all-wheel-drive system is also big news. Formerly, RS came with FWD, but the 2016 model will get an advanced AWD system developed for the car's massive power output.
Shoppers will also love the 2016 Focus RS' muscular design, which includes flared fenders and oversized exhaust pipes. We're not exactly sure when the new Ford Focus RS will go on sale in San Francisco, but sources say it will be available sometime next year. The sooner the better in our opinion! Stay tuned for more news about RS over the coming year!
