A recent study conducted by MaritzCX, a software and research company, found that the youngest car buyers, Generation Z, prefer Ford models over all other brands. The age group, which represents those 21 and younger, were also found to be partial to cars, with less interest in trucks and SUVs, and a fan of models with top-of-the-line fuel economy – an area Ford's lineup excels in.

More than 1,061 individuals a part of Generation Z were surveyed in the study which listed Ford as the top choice among car buyers below the age of 21. Ford made its way to the front of the pack, garnering 8.2 percent of the vote, while Toyota came in behind it at 7.2 percent and Chevy followed with 6.4 percent. In addition to this, it was also discovered that Gen Z shoppers are most likely to buy a new car if it delivers excellent fuel economy, cutting down gas expenses. Over 41 percent of those surveyed also prefer to shop for compact cars, such as the Ford Focus, while 14.7-percent would choose a midsize sedan, like the Ford Fusion. A surprise find, considering the increase in demand for SUVs over the past few years, Gen Z’s car preferences could be due to the fact their age group tends to have less income than older individuals.

As Generation Z continues to grow over the years, they will make up a large portion of the car-buying market. With this new information, we can take extra steps to accommodate them and satisfy their automotive needs.
