How to Reset Ford SYNC

Ford came out with the SYNC feature back in 2007. Since then, there have been many changes and upgrades to make this feature better than ever. Unfortunately, there can always be issues with technology, even in the best-constructed systems around. If you need to do a Master Reset on your SYNC system, here are some tips for walking you through the process.

  • Activate your phone’s Bluetooth connectivity.
  • Delete the ‘SYNC’ pairing option on your main list.
  • Select the ‘Phone’ screen on your infotainment center. You should notice that the system is attempting to connect with any available device. You may also see a notification that there isn’t a gadget nearby that it can sync with.
  • Choose the ‘Seek’ button until you see the ‘Return’ option selected.
  • You can utilize the arrows to select the ‘Advanced’ option.
  • Continue to press ‘Seek’ until the ‘Master Reset’ option appears.
  • You will be asked to confirm the reset.

For this reset to work, your vehicle will need to be running and in park. If you’re currently in accessory mode, you will not be able to do a reset. Also, keep in mind that you will lose your navigation information and personal data when you do a reset. You can also contact Serramonte Ford to set up an appointment at our Colma location if you would like assistance with your reset. One of our technicians would be happy to complete the process for you, but we can also teach you how to do the reset yourself if it's ever needed again.
