The San Francisco Pistahan Festival and Parade celebrates Filipino American ancestral heritage and contemporary traditions - broadening awareness and deepening the understanding of Filipino history, achievements and culture.
Generally the San Francisco Pistahan Parade and Festival is held on the second weekend in August at the Yerba Buena Gardens. The festival showcases world-class entertainment, from traditional Filipino dance, to hip-hop, to jazz, to martial arts. Generally it features seven Pavilions for discovery and learning: Dance, Art, Culinary, Sports, Health, Leadership and Pistahan Tavern.
On the first day of the celebration, the event begins with the Pistahan Parade. Starting in the Civic Center, and ending up at Yerba Buena Gardens in Downtown San Francisco. Floats, Community Groups, Bands, Dance Groups and supporting businesses parade through San Francisco. Local dignitaries and each year's Hermano/Hermana Mayor are interspersed between the parade groups. The parade and festival are so popular that they attract thousands of visitors every year.
PANDEMIC REIMAGINING
2020 brought challenges to everyone, and the Pistahan Festival and Parade was no exception. But rather than going without the annual celebration, the SF Pistahan Festival and Parade was held virtually. The event was broadcast internationally on the internet and gained strong reviews, even gaining notice from Forbes Magazine. See Serramonte Ford's virtual parade entry by CLICKING HERE.
SERRAMONTE FORD: LONG TIME SUPPORTER!
Serramonte Ford is located less than 10 miles south of downtown San Francisco, right in the middle of the largest population of people of Filipino ancestry outside of the Philippines. Throughout the years, Serramonte Ford has been honored to provide vehicles and drivers to either pull parade floats, or carry dignitaries for the parade, and to host a booth in the Festival. Our support didn't end when the event had to become virtual. We opened up our facilities and managed them under strict COVID protocols to allow the virtual festival rehearsal tapings to take place.Â
