Specs at a Glance

In 2021, the Ford F-150 takes the lead as the #1 large truck. The F-150, which is considered a top-rated truck by Edmunds, is one of the most popular trucks in its class. In 2021, the Ford F-150 is safer, more tech-savvy, and more fuel-conscious than in the past. The Ford F-150 is now offered with a hybrid powertrain that delivers impressive torque along with an improved fuel economy. This engine is available for both the base trim level called the XL and the Lariat, the mid-trim in the lineup. The Lariat trim stands out because it comes standard with many features available on the base trim in 2021, including an upgraded 12-inch infotainment system. Depending on what you are looking for in a truck, both trims make solid choices in 2021.

Performance

More performance options are available for the Ford F-150 XL and Lariat than ever with the addition of a hybrid powertrain. The same base engine powers both trim levels, which is a 3.3L V6. Even with this standard engine, the Ford offers impressive power at 290 total HP and over 260 LB-FT in torque. A second available turbo 2.7L V6 engine generates up to 325 HP instead and 400 LB-FT in torque. You can get a gasoline-powered 5.0L V8 engine and a slight increase to 410 LB-FT of torque. The top gasoline engine is a turbo 3.5L V6 capable of 400 HP and 500 LB-FT of torque. Either trim level can be ordered with a diesel engine that creates 250 HP and 440 LB-FT of peak torque or a hybrid powertrain capable of 430 HP with a gasoline engine and electric motor. The Ford tows up to 14,000 pounds with either trim, and it is offered in four-wheel drive.

Appearance

LED headlights are included with the Ford. The LX has steel wheels, which are upgraded to alloy with the Lariat. The Lariat also has fog lights and LED lighting in the truck bed. Chrome accents on the front end of both trims give them a classy and upscale finish.

Features

The Ford F-150 XL has a standard eight-inch infotainment touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Available for this trim and standard on the Lariat is a more prominent 12-inch display screen. The Lariat also has leather seats and USB charging ports. Both trim levels have standard advanced safety technology.
