LITERACY EVENT HONORING DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.

The Cow Palace hosts an annual creative competition to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a focus on "speaking out" and encouraging youth to share their voice respectfully and effectively.

In 2024, the event was held on January 11th and Serramonte Ford was proud to be a sponsor of this important community event.

The contest celebrates and builds on Dr. King's historic Cow Palace appearance in 1964 when he addressed the Republican National Convention on matters of housing equity. It consists of local High School students who share their "voice" through art, photography, language arts and video. The entries are judged on their message and their ability to be uplifting and inspiring.

This event is held at the Cow Palace in Daly City and honors the memory of Dr. King while providing support for future community leaders. The event is hosted by Dr. Alison Keaney, CEO of the Cow Palace and information about the event can be found HERE.

We encourage high school students throughout the area to enter this contest that provides cash prizes to the winners. We also strongly suggest that local businesses to support developing freedom of speech by providing financial support by sponsoring this event.
