What's New for the 2019 Ford Mustang?

This year, the Mustang offers a few new features to enhance performance. For the first time ever, the optional active valve exhaust is available for the turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. Add this equipment and your Mustang EcoBoost can sound a healthy exhaust note when you hit the throttle. On the Mustang GT with the manual transmission, you'll find a newly standard rev-matching feature. Now, when drivers downshift, the rev-matching technology helps maintain a smooth drive. This year, the Bullitt and California Special models are making a comeback, giving shoppers even more options in terms of trim level and equipment.

2019 Mustang Powerful Trims & Innovative Features

This year, you'll find five Mustang trims for sale: the EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium, and Bullitt. The one that's right for you depends on what you want in a powertrain, how much luxury you crave, and what your budget will allow.

The entry-level Mustang EcoBoost offers an excellent deal on a sporty ride. It comes fully loaded with performance gear, including an electric line-lock to facilitate burnouts. If your EcoBoost has the manual gearbox, then it also comes standard with launch control to get you off to a superb start. The limited-slip rear differential helps you maintain precision. The EcoBoost is also chock full of modern convenience, with features like keyless entry and ignition and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. It also has connectivity and two USB ports on hand.

Take the EcoBoost and add a serious dose of luxury, and you've got the EcoBoost Premium. It adds to the aforementioned features with upscale items like leather upholstery and special interior trim. The power-adjustable seats help you get perfectly situated at the wheel. Dual-zone automatic climate control does an impressive job of maintaining two separate temperatures for front driver and passenger. This trim also supplies cutting-edge infotainment gear, including Ford's Sync 3 system, with its 8-inch color touchscreen and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities.

The Mustang GT is equipped much like the EcoBoost, except that it adds a classic V8 engine into the mix. When you choose the Mustang GT Premium, you're essentially taking the GT lineup and adding the luxury features you see on the EcoBoost Premium.

Finally, there's the Bullitt. This special-edition trim is easily recognizable, thanks to its exclusive Highland Green paint, special wheels, and special Bullitt logos. It also comes standard with the Performance package, which is an option for other trims. The package includes larger brakes, a shorter differential ratio, a bigger radiator, and stiffer front springs and a larger rear stabilizer bar, which is basically everything you need for a world-class ride.

Does the 2019 Mustang Carry On its Legendary Performance?

2019 Ford MustangAs you shop for your Mustang, you'll find two engine options. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder that's good for 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. This engine is featured on the Mustang EcoBoost and EcoBoost premium models. For extra speed, check out the 5.0-liter V8 engine. It produces 460 horses and 420 pound-feet of torque. You'll find this engine on the Mustang GT and GT Premium. This year's Bullitt model also features a version of this V8 engine, but it kicks things up a notch with 480 horses.

How Does the 2019 Mustang Keep Me Safe?

2019 Ford MustangIn government crash tests, the 2019 Ford Mustang scored five of five stars across the board, from front crash to rollover tests. And, if that's not enough to ease your mind, you can always add high-tech driver aids that help you spot danger before it hits. The forward collision warning system even includes automatic emergency braking for extra protection in the face of danger. There's also an optional blind-spot alert system, which gives you a heads-up when a vehicle is lurking just outside your line of sight.
