What's New For the 2020 Ford Expedition?

In 2020, the Ford Expedition gets more safety technology, more aesthetic options, and more versatility than before. Now, you can order the King Ranch trim level in the same two body styles available for the other trims, which are a standard body and an extended version called the Max. The Max body style adds nearly 10 inches to the exterior of the 2020 Expedition, which in turn translates to more interior space.

Certain trims of the latest Expedition are now offered with the option for a custom exterior appearance through the Black Accent package that gives the wheels, body, and outer trim a special black paint. This year's Expedition has more safety technology as well. Now, each trim is outfitted with Ford's Co-Pilot360 safety group. This comprehensive package includes forward collision alert, lane-keep assist, automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and more. Now, a backup camera comes standard on all Expedition trims, too.

The 2020 Expedition Has Many Features Across Several Trims

Four trim levels are available in the 2020 Ford Expedition family. The base trim is called the XLT. Its long list of standard features includes split-folding seats in the second and third rows. This trim level seats up to eight. Its standard infotainment technology includes an eight-inch display screen. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and smartphone integration are notable features. Next up is the Limited trim. Leather seats are standard, starting with this trim level.

It also upgrades from 18-inch wheels to 20-inch wheels for a more dramatic exterior. Several packages are available for a custom finish, including an off-road package and a heavy-duty towing package. Ambient interior lighting gives the cabin a welcoming and more luxurious feel. The King Ranch builds on that list with 10-way adjustable power-operated front seats. Its interior gets a distinct look with custom leather seats that are bordered with exclusive accent stitching.

Trim-specific badges and larger wheels frame its exterior. The Platinum gets its own engine and leather seats with a trim-specific finish. Its interior is also enhanced with a unique wood trim finish. The second and third row of seats has a power-operated split-folding design. Active noise control translates to a quieter and more relaxing ride, even on the busiest roads.

The second engine, which is standard on the Platinum, produces more power at 400 HP and slightly more torque at 480 LB-FT. Both engines are linked to a 10-speed transmission.
