What's New for the Ford F-150 Lightning?

Ford calls the F-150 Lightning the "Truck of the Future," and for a good reason. The Lightning is the latest addition to the F-150 family, including some of the most popular pickup trucks in the auto industry. The Lightning brings a wave of change for the F-150 lineup, as it is now the first-ever pickup truck in the family to have an electric powertrain for power. The Lightning is designed to impress inside and out with a state-of-the-art cabin that contains the latest technology from Ford and an overall high-quality design. The F-150 will also have an exceptionally durable exterior, complete with a power liftgate and LED lights. The Lightning, which is expected to arrive in early 2022, will be available in several trim levels.

The All-New F-150 Lightning Has Many Features Across Several Trims

The F-150 Lightning will come in three trims, and the Lightning lineup includes the Platinum, Lariat, and XLT trims. All trims will have their own unique set of amenities, although Ford has not yet provided concrete details about the features you can expect with each trim level. Some general notable features for Lightning include a modern dashboard and driver's information system, which includes a customizable and high-quality 12-inch digital display screen.

You'll be able to keep tabs on the truck's performance with the information center, including the amount of range left and power output. A separate 15.5-inch touchscreen will serve as the entertainment and information center in the vehicle. The touchscreen will support Ford's latest technology called SYNC4. This system will also have wireless Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Apple CarPlay. A front trunk provides extra storage space across the lineup, and you can use the keyfob as a keyless entry.

F-150 Lightning Powertrain and Its Performance

The Ford F-150 Lightning will also stand out for its exceptional performance credentials. The Lightning can get 230 miles of full-electric range with a single charge. An extended-range battery, available on some trim levels, provides an even greater range of up to 300 miles. The Lightning has a fast-charging port onboard for quick charging on the road. Its maximum power output is 563 HP, and its torque output is 775 LB-FT. The Ford can tow 10,000 pounds, and its maximum payload is 2,000 pounds.

Ford F-150 Lightning Safety at the Forefront

For safety, the F-150 Lightning is equipped with the Co-Pilot360 safety package with blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, and more. Semi-autonomous driving technology is another safety feature.
