The new 2022 Ford Transit Connect is an untapped potential you might have overlooked. This medium-sized, front-wheel drive vehicle contains a unique combination of great looks and practicality that can fit into the typical family's life.
What's New for The 2022 Ford Transit Connect?
The 2022 Ford Transit Connect compact cargo van and passenger wagon have been completely redesigned. The wagon gets an all-new look, with a sleeker front end and more sculpted styling, while the cargo van keeps more of an old-school profile. Both get new seats and updated infotainment systems inside. A new hybrid powertrain is available for the first time.
Trims & Features
The 2022 Ford Transit Connect will have five trim levels: XL Cargo Van (base), XLT Cargo Van, XL Passenger Wagon, XLT Passenger Wagon, and Titanium Passenger Wagon (the top-level). The XL is only available with the cargo van body style and no passenger seat, perfect for those who use their vehicles for business. The XLT comes with a few extra niceties like automatic headlights and Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite of driver assistance tech. The Titanium trim adds 18-inch wheels, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an 8-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.
Both wagon models come standard with seven seats, but you can opt for a five-passenger configuration. While all trims are wagons, only the XLT is available as a cargo van.

Horsepower
The 2022 Ford Transit Connect will have a standard 2.0L inline-4 engine, rated at 162 horsepower and 144 lb-ft of torque. The optional 1.5L EcoBlue turbodiesel will be available in the U.S. for the first time in the Transit Connect, with a 3,500-pound towing capacity (versus the gas engine's 2,000 pounds).
Safety
The 2022 Ford Transit Connect has a long list of standard safety features. All models come with a standard backup camera. The Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of safety tech includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Transit Connects with the optional Driver Assistance Package can add adaptive cruise control and evasive steer assist.
Visit our dealership
The Transit Connect is praised for its versatility and easy-to-fold seats. However, drivers should note that it struggles to maintain power when carrying heavy cargo or towing an extended trailer, though the small size of the Transit Connect makes it easier to navigate in congested urban areas. NHTSA gives this vehicle five stars across all categories except rollover protection. But before you decide, definitely make time to visit our dealership in person and take one for a test drive. You'll be glad you did.
